About The Retro Game

WWF Raw on the Super Nintendo delivers fast-paced, arcade-style wrestling that packs the ring with signature moves, tag-team mayhem, and wild “megamoves.” You choose from a roster of top WWF superstars, each with unique strikes, grapples, and finishers, then brawl both inside and outside the ring. The simple yet responsive controls, multi-wrestler modes, and chaotic weapons and interference elements make every match feel like a TV main event distilled into pure 16-bit action.

Released in 1994 at the height of WWF’s popularity, WWF Raw represents the culmination of LJN and Acclaim’s early ’90s wrestling engine on the SNES. It refined ideas from earlier titles like WWF Super WrestleMania and WWF Royal Rumble, adding smoother animation, a bigger moveset, and the over-the-top megamoves that fans still remember. For its era, it was notable for fitting a sizable roster and mode variety into a 24-meg cartridge, pushing the console’s memory to host detailed sprites, crowd effects, and announcer-style presentation.

WWF Raw also captured the televised atmosphere of Monday Night Raw, helping bridge the gap between watching and playing pro wrestling. While later games would become more simulation-heavy, this title’s exaggerated style, colorful presentation, and couch-multiplayer chaos made it a staple of sleepovers and rental stores. Today it stands as a snapshot of mid-’90s WWF, preserving the look, feel, and hype of that period in wrestling history in a form fans can instantly pick up and play.
