Hack and slash/Beat 'em up
4Dust off your arcade reflexes—Hack and Slash / Beat ’em Up games are all about charging straight into the chaos and carving your way through endless waves of enemies. Think side-scrolling streets, dark dungeons, and neon alleys packed with punks, monsters, and bosses just begging for a combo to the face. In this genre, you’re usually on a tight 2D plane (or classic “belt-scrolling” 2.5D) using light/heavy attacks, grabs, jump attacks, and special moves to juggle entire gangs at once. It’s pure, crunchy feedback: every punch connects with a satisfying hit-stop, every combo feels like you’re styling on the whole screen. Many classics support couch-style co‑op, now reborn as online play through browser emulation—so you and a friend can clear the streets together without a console, a cartridge, or a coin-op cabinet. Just hit Start, pick your fighter, and go from zero to full-on screen-clearing super move in seconds. If you miss the days of arcade brawlers, quarter-eating bosses, and tag-team beatdowns, Hack and Slash / Beat ’em Ups in your browser are the fastest way to jump back into that glorious button-mashing flow—completely free, no download, straight from your web browser.

The Revenge of Shinobi
Set in the mythical world of ancient Japan, players take on the role of ninja warrior Shinobi. To free the world from the curse of Goaku, Shinobi must recover 5 elemental swords and defeat the Shoguns who wield them. It will take stealth, strength, and the mastery of the mystic arts for Shinobi to battle his way through the 5 lands. While the game shares a name with the third game in the Shinobi series, it's a stand-alone spin-off title not based on the previous game.
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is a side-scrolling, beat 'em up arcade game based on the comic book series Xenozoic Tales. In the game, the player has access to several attacks. Each character has two special moves including one that depletes a character's health upon contact with an enemy and when two or more players play together, they can trigger a team-attack. Players can also find and use various firearms, throwing weapons such as rocks and explosives, and melee weapons such as clubs.
Warriors of Fate
Warriors of Fate is a beat'em up with nine stages. Each contains large mobs including spearman, archers, strongmen, bomb-wielding opponents, and at least one boss. Using two buttons, Attack and Jump, the characters all have standard moves typical of Capcom side-scrollers of the day. There is also a variety of weapons in the game which can be picked up. As with most side-scrollers, food is used to replenish health and can be found in various breakable containers in the game level. One notable feature of the game is the ability to summon a warhorse which adds more attacks to the characters, generally involving pole-arms. Most characters are given a special wrestling throw of their own, like in Final Fight and The Punisher. In the Japanese version, the game follows Liu Bei's plight in Jingzhou from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a history-based novel from China, set in the Three Kingdoms period as Cao Cao sets to invade his lands. In the English adaptation, however, the Three Kingdoms theme was lost, and most names have been changed to names of Mongolian origin.
Dynasty Wars
Originating in the arcades, Dynasty Wars is a beat-em-up set during the Three Kingdoms Era of the Chinese history, and is, more specifically, based on the Tenchi o Kurau manga adaptation of the story. The player adopts the identity of an ancient Chinese warrior, and riding on horseback has to eliminate all his opponents, mostly infantry and archers.
